George LG Mungo, was born in Boston MA, in 1977. Coming from a single parent household, and not having a father figure around, LG vowed to always be their for his kids. In 1999, LG was awarded full custody of his two sons Quincy and Quazay Mungo. LG made a conscious decision to raise his boys in the urban community and take on the role of both parents.
From there he began to work on his business, walking the single parent walk for several years he knew first hand about the hard roads and scary nights. Not knowing how he was going to make ends meet, LG battled through every hardship of being a single parent. From being homeless, to car repossession, empty refrigerators, lights being cut off and loss of jobs.
LG, decided he wanted to do something special for all single parents, so he created a platform titled “Single Parent Appreciation Day” music festival in 2012. After that event is where he gained knowledge about a nonprofit and a 501c3.
Two years later he started his nonprofit and obtained his 501c3, and continued to be an influential figure in his community. From back pack giveaways to workshops mentoring, to helping single parents get groceries and helping single parent escape evictions by facilitating housing information.
LG, even payed out of his own pockets to hire national artist to come sing for single parents. LG and his organization appreciate strong single parents and love to feed the kids and provide games at his own community events.
SPH Private Foundation was established in 2014
By George Mungo. We take great pride in giving back to our community and helping young single parents navigate through their journey.
SPH, is designed to be an additional outlet or resource for single parents to access when facing hardship. Our mission is to assist single parents in areas where “they might need a van for their disabled child”, they can reach out to SPH and we are going to help them and provide that transportation. If single parents “need help with a move in cost” first, last and half for security and they don’t have all the funds to do so, they can contact SPH and we will lend a helping hand. If a single parent needs funds to get their child on a Pop Warner sports team, they can reach out to SPH, and we will assist them.
SPH Charity Foundation also host workshops once every Quarter for young adults. We mentor young 16-24 year old men and women.
SPH Charity Foundation powers our “Single Parent Appreciation Day” which is ultimately a music festival designed by SPH, to celebrate the hard work and dedication it takes to succeed as a single parent. SPH partners with other nonprofits at this event, and we provide endless resources to assist single parents.
